PASSIVE SOLAR DESIGN
WITH ENERGY EFFICIENT SELF CONTAINED FORCED AIR SYSTEM
Taking full
advantage of the south orientation, the building's passive solar design together with the
use of energy efficient walls and windows translates into significantly lower heating
requirements. Each suite has a completely self contained forced air heating system which
is designed to deliver gentle even warmth throughout the suite through a series of
ducts
located at the ceiling. The system uses a two speed motor which when left on low speed will take full advantage of
the south orientation and redistribute the warmth from the winter sun throughout the
suite. Tied in to the heat recovery ventilation system, this system will also ensure that
every room is supplied with fresh air, even in the winter when windows are typically kept
shut.
WATER SAVING FIXTURES AND APPLIANCES
Ultra Low
Flush toilets (1.6 gpf) and water saving shower heads and faucet aerators will be standard
equipment in all the suites; all proven technology which significantly reduces water
consumption without compromising convenience.
The front loading washing machine will use 40% less water than
conventional top loaders
and
further, the
advanced design in clothes washing technology uses less soap and less energy to dry and
your clothes will last longer due to the gentle but effective tumbling washing action.
Altogether these fixtures will not only reduce your use of resources and your costs but will also result in overall savings to the environment.
